Maybelline (Crystallize) Green Depth and Born Pretty Store Shell Paper

Hi! :D

Maybelline Green Depth is one of the Crystallize nail polishes, which is a collection of liquid sand polishes.

It’s a black polish with green/purple duochrome glass fleck and it is utterly gorgeous.

Maybelline Green Depth (No topcoat)

If you squint at the bottle, you can see the glass fleck is green in the middle and purple towards the edge. I love this polish!

371-2-maybelline-crystallize-green-depth

However, it’s at this point that I messed the whole thing up!

Now, my original idea was to use this gorgeous Born Pretty Store shell paper over the polish to get irregularly shaped green flashes over a subtle green shimmer background. But this didn’t happen. “Why?”.

My first mistake was trying to stick the smooth plastic shell paper over liquid sand, because of the gritty finish of the polish, the paper couldn’t adhere.

Then I thought I could fix the whole thing by smothering it with topcoat but because the shell paper wasn’t stuck properly, it kept lifting, and the liquid sand polish kept soaking up all the topcoat, so I ended up with a lumpy finish. (Not a good look).

However, I still loved how the shell paper looked! I just made a mistake pairing it with a liquid sand polish. I’m definitely going to try it again and use it with a regular polish. :)

Have any of you succeeded in creating this type of nail look? Any tips for me? :)

Born Pretty Store Gold Glitter, Gold Cat and Essie Licorice

Hi :)

BornPrettyStore.com sent me more free samples! Hurray! This time I have some amazing gold glitter and some gold cats! I’ve already posted a few items from their website and I think their products are great quality and the prices are so low! Plus they do free worldwide delivery. AND they gave me a 10% off code that you can use – I do love a discount code! (Does anyone else Google discount codes before they buy online? You should!) I love everything they’ve sent me so far and I’ve picked out some more stuff myself, they sell evvverything! :)

The #12 gold glitter is gorgeous, it comes in a nice big pot so there’s plenty. It’s a rich, bright, gold colour and it’s really sparkly. It glows like it’s real gold! (I wish!)

The 3D cat is the same colour gold and it’s super cute! It has a little rhinestone on it’s tail! You get five, so order two packets if you want one for every finger :)

Here they are together with Essie Licorice; The glitter is loose, so I painted my ring finger with one coat of topcoat and dipped it into the pot of glitter while it was still wet. Then I brushed off the excess with a fan brush and then added two more coats of topcoat. I have to do a full mani with just this glitter! So glowy o.O

Here’s a better angle of the Cat, isn’t she so cute! Look at her little paws and ears! :D (Can you tell I’m a cat lady?)

Here’s a pic of the glitter just because it was so pretty! :D I really love the colour.  353.4 BPS Gold Glitter and Cat

OPI A Roll in the Hague, Sinful Colors Envy and Snow Me White and Essie Licorice

Hi everyone!

Happy St Patrick’s Day! :D

(These were my nails for the big day, and this was supposed to be posted on time, but I had technical issues)

(And no, I don’t mean I had too much green beer! :)

You are looking at the Irish Flag on my ring finger and little Guinnesses on my other fingers. Which, I thought, was the perfect representation of the day itself!

I used Essie Licorice (black), Sinful Colors Snow Me White (white), Sinful Colors Envy (green) and OPI A Roll in the Hague (gold).

Hope you all had a great day! Leprechauns for everyone!

I had to take a pic of the Irish Flag polishes too – I was feeling very patriotic! :)

I also wanted to show you the little shamrock earrings I ordered from BornPrettyStore.com. They had a St Patrick’s Day sale and what kind of an Irish girl on St Patrick’s Day would I be without shamrock earrings!? I couldn’t resist! They are too friggin cute!

They roped me in with their free samples and 10% off coupon code and now I can’t stop buying things off them! *Shakes fist in anger but then stops to admire tiny cheap earrings* :D

Last thing! I took part in the #NailLinkUp this month! Twice! It’s a really great idea run by a bunch of great bloggers – here are the details for this month and go to any of the bloggers listed below for more deets :)

Jamberry Nails Black & White Stripe, Hard Candy Birthday Bash and Essie Licorice

Hi :)

A couple of weeks ago I was catching up on my blogs and I saw this beautiful set of Jamberry nail wraps being reviewed by somedaysunny.com. I really thought they were gorgeous on her and couldn’t believe my eyes when she said that I could get my own free sample by filling out the form attached!

Of course I filled that thing out faster than the speed of light and shortly after I got this beautiful card in the post, with not just one, but two free samples of Jamberry Nail Wraps! (Enough to do four nails.) Thanks Kami! :D

341.3 Jamberry Wrap Sample and Card

The girl that sent me the free samples is Kami Lingren, shes’s an advanced consultant for Jamberry Nails and she’s also offering the first 30 people that fill out THIS FORM a free sample of Jamberry nail wraps too!

However, this offer is only available to people that live in the U.S., Guam, Puerto Rico and Canada.

Sorry to everyone else! Jamberry is only available there. :(

I do recommend getting the free sample, these nail wraps are amazing! They are the best and easiest ones I have ever used and I am heartbroken that I can’t buy them here! I’m really hoping they go international soon because I already have a wish list of patterns I want to try! Don’t look at the website unless you live in the countries listed above, you’ll only want to buy them! You’ve been warned! :)

Oh! and Kami is currently having a Mystery Hostess party on Instagram – this means that since there’s no set hostess, that anyone who makes a purchase is entered into a draw to win ALL of the party hostess rewards (which equals FREE stuff!).  Just click here to follow! :)

Here is the Black and White Stripe nail wrap in action with Hard Candy Birthday Bash and Essie Licorice:

341.1 Hard Candy Birthday Bash Essie Licorice and Jamberry Black and White Stripe

A wonkier but better picture of the wrap, (my pinkie is so much shorter than my other nails that it’s never in focus!):

341.2 Hard Candy Birthday Bash Essie Licorice and Jamberry Black and White Stripe

You can see that it’s perfectly smooth and has a great shine, I love the look of the perfectly crisp stripes!

The nail wrap was so easy to use! You heat the back of it for a second with a hairdrier, it becomes maluable, you place it on the nail. End of! There was no tearing or wrinkling! I just left it as it was and I’ve been wearing it now for four days and it looks perfect! Couldn’t be simplier. :)

I also have to tell you about the polishes. Essie Licorice, a perfect one coater black polish, a dream in a bottle! Essie is a more expensive brand but the quality is also a lot higher. Licorice is a quality polish. No regrets shelling out for this one.

Hard Candy Birthday Bash is a blue jelly with blue, black and silver glitter. The larger silver glitter were like tiny mirrors! It was beautifully dazzling! This is two coats and my fingers were jam packed with glitter. I love these Hard Candy polishes! Well worth trying if you spot them in Dealz/Poundland like I did! :)

<3<3<3

TL;DR – The first 30 people to fill in the form above will get a free sample of Jamberry Nail Wraps! (If you live in U.S., Canada, Guam, or Puerto Rico.)

Maybelline Nearly Black (Crystallize)

Hi :)

I tried this negative space mani for my Anti-Valentines day nails and was really surprised by how much I liked the look. (I thought I’d hate showing part of my naked nail, #NeverNude). So I wanted to try it again!

I used this black texture polish so that I could apply one coat and remove the tape straight away and still have full coverage. I actually used these Seche French Mani Guides, they are the best I’ve ever tried, they give a clean line every time and leave no horrible sticky residue behind.

I used Wet n Wild 2% Milk as my base again and then I placed the Seche french mani guides and then used one thick coat of Nearly Black and removed the guides immediately. Voila!

Rimmel Luna Love and Total Eclipse (Space Dust)

Hi :)

Me and the lovely Jaimie of addalittlepolish.com decided to do a collaboration for Valentine’s day! I’m so excited to be doing this with her because she does the cutest manis and it was fun doing something with another blogger, especially one as nice as her.

We decided that we would both do a mani with a gradient theme, but I would do an Anti-Valentine’s version and she would do a Valentine’s version. You can check out her version here! :) She’s also on Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook so you can check out all of her cute nail designs. :)

I used Rimmel Luna Love and Total Eclipse from the Space Dust Collection. (Best texture collection ever!). Luna Love is a bright pink texture with blue shimmer, it is beautiful and it’s perfect for a Valentine’s mani.

But I didn’t want a Valentine’s mani, I wanted an Anti-Valentine’s mani so I used Total Eclipse over it. Total Eclipse is a black texture with green shimmer. Both of these polishes are gorgeous!

The idea is that I’m trying to cover Valentine’s, (pink), with the gaping hole that is singledom, (black ), but it’s not completely covered because love is stronger than hate, it will never be completely wiped out. :) I’m keeping hope alive people! *Passes chocolate around*

Maybelline Red Excess (Crystallize)

Hi :)

Another day, another texture! This is a black polish with duochrome glassflecks that shift from red to gold.

I used two coats but when the polish dried it looked more brown than black so then I added topcoat, and unlike yesterday, this baby shined with topcoat! Shined and sparkled! I lovvved it topcoated, it went back to looking black, the flakies sparkled SO HARD! and the colour shift was way more noticable.

Buy this polish and topcoat it immediately! Oh and it’s only one coat of Seche Vite! It only needed one coat! I’m in polish heaven people! *Wiggles fingers*

Model’s Own Gun Grey and L.A. Colors Tinsel

Hi :)

In my Christmas stocking this year I found the cutest little gift set. Model’s Own and Impulse released limited edition sets, each containing Model’s Own nail buffer, nail polish and an Impulse spray.

Now of course I love any nail polish and I needed a new buffer (score!) but I was really happy to get an Impulse spray too! Impulse are like chocolates, (try not to read that in a Forest Gump voice, I dare you!), because, (no, not because “you never know what you’re gonna git”), because there are no bad Impulse sprays.

I got the set that included the Very Pink (Roses and Grapefruit) spray and the Gun Grey polish. Of course, the spray smells lovely and you can see the polish below. However, the polish smelled terrible, in ironic contrast to the lovely spray.

It’s a black polish with multi-coloured shimmer, mostly green and purple, but you can’t make out the colours unless you hold your nails under your nose. The shimmer makes the polish look more like a dark grey and slightly metallic, hence the name!

Model’s Own Gun Grey

430.1 Model's Own Gun Grey

I really liked the polish on it’s own and had no plans to do anything to it but then I dented one nail making a cup of tea, (with chocolate biscuits, mostly I wanted the biscuits), so then I added a coat of L.A. Colors Tinsel. A very sheer peach polish with glitter.

I liked the result – it kinda looks like the sky at night, or reallly simplified Galaxy nails, do you think?

Sally Hansen Velveteen (Velvet Texture) and China Glaze Elfin’ Around

Hi :)

I loved yesterdays polish so much that I couldn’t take it off yet, so instead I went to Google for some inspiration to spice it up. That’s where I found a pic of the Nicole Miller Fall 2014 runway nails. I used China Glaze Elfin’ Around and a striping nail art brush to try and recreate the look and this is how it turned out.

Sally Hansen Velveteen and China Glaze Elfin’ Around:

424.3 Sally Hansen Velveteen and China Glaze Elfin' Around

It didn’t quite look the same and I wasn’t sure why, (other than the fact that these nails were copied by me in my pyjamas eating Nutella from the jar and the runway nails were created by a professional!), and then I read the description of the nails and it said Katie Jane Hughes used a matte top coat to create her look. So then I added Essie Matte About You over the whole thing. (Didn’t get Nutella on my keyboard.)

Sally Hansen Velveteen, China Glaze Elfin’ Around and Essie Matte About You:

Then I declared to an empty room, with a chocolate covered spoon held to the sky: “Close Enough!” and went to bed. :)

Sally Hansen Velveteen (Velvet Texture)

Hi :)

I love, love, love this polish! It was an impulse purchase at the check-out and now I want them all! I thought it would be just another matte black, they kind of all look the same, but it’s actually quite special.

It’s a lovely mix of a subtle texture, matte and black! Mmmm…goth-y sophistication.

I had planned to use this as a base for some crazy nail art, thinking it was just going to be a plain black with a matte finish, but I loved the simple velvet texture effect so much that I couldn’t bear to touch it. Although I did touch it, it really feels like velvet! :D

What do you guys think? Yay or nay?
