Orly Beach Cruiser and Born Pretty Store Neon Pink Glitter

Hi :)

Now that we finally have some sunshine here, I want to wear neon! I love neon nails, they look so vivid in the sun. Do you wear neon in the Summer? I get a lot of comments when I wear neon, not all of it positive! (So rude!)

I put on two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, the best white nail polish I have ever used, then put striping tape down the middle of my nail and added a thick coat of Orly Beach Cruiser on one side.

Beach Cruiser photographed a bit darker than it is in person but it’s so difficult to capture neon, especially in the Sun. The camera reacts like my cat when I’m trying to give it medicine, “No! NO! NO!“.

Then I added some round neon pink glitter from BornPrettyStore.com. The glitter is 1.68 euro and they do free worldwide shipping AND this code will get you a further 10% off, which makes it a bargain in any language! :)

Wet n Wild 2% Milk

Hi :)

This is my third time in a row to wear this polish, I just keep taking it off and then putting it back on again!

I love it so much!

If, like me, you struggle to find the perfect nude polish, if you can never achieve the fabled “Mannequin Hands”, if you want to look like you are not wearing nail polish, but simply have beautiful healthy shiny nails, then this is the one for you! I implore you! Buy this! Buy it now! *Hypnotoad says buy this now*

It’s a nude polish but it has just a hint of pink, not enough to mistake it for a pink polish, but just enough so that your hands look like they belong to a real human. (Zombie hands is something I get with most nudes, but I prefer them to look human, don’t you?)

If you wear it with just one or two coats you get the “my nails but better” look, but I used four coats because I wanted an opaque background for my neon glitter.

Bornprettystore.com sent me this glitter as a free sample. It is eye-searingly bright. It’s the most neon of all things neon! I love it of course!

What’s not to love?

Glitter? Check!

Round? Check!

NEON? Check!

Plus it only costs E1.67 and if you use my discount code, AZHW10, then it’s only E1.50 and they deliver worldwide for free. So for the change in your purse will can buy a tiny pot of happiness! :D

Wet n Wild I Need A Refresh-Mint

Hi :)

I’m having lots of fun experimenting with nail art but it’s so scary because it’s very difficult to make it look like it does on Pinterest! Those girls are professionals! (Nail Technicians, not the other kind of professional. ;)

Today I thought, “Why try one nail art effect, when you can try them all?” and I ended up with dots, stripes, chevrons and (always) glitter!

– I used NYC Frozen Metal (silver) under Wet n Wild I Need A Refresh-Mint (green) for the stripes on my index finger.

– My Middle finger is two coats of No7 Snow Wash over I Need A Refresh-Mint.

– Ring finger is Rimmel Disco Fever, hand placed, over NYC Frozen Metal.

– Pinkie is Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace over I Need A Refresh-Mint.

Essence Bejeweled (Holo Jewels) and Essence Baby You’re a Firework (Sparkling Sugar)

Hi Everyone! :)

I have two Essences to show you today.

Essence Baby You’re a Firework is a pink texture polish with lots of fine gold shimmer. It was really pretty and delicate and girly. I loved it in the bottle and on the nail.

My only complaint is that I used three coats and I could still see my nail line. I generally hate to see my nail through a polish but this one was so pretty, I liked it anyway. Also, it didn’t dry as matte as some other textures, but I didn’t mind that. I thought the overall effect was lovely.

Next is Essence Bejeweled, which is a frosty white polish with lots of iridescent glitter. I’m not sure if this was meant to be a texture or not, but I thought it looked like a regular polish, so I added topcoat. This one was really pretty too and I loved wearing it.

However, the visible nail line was really bothering me, so I wanted to cover it and then I remembered I had some large loose glitter that matched the glitter in the polish perfectly. So I added a couple of pieces of my glitter to the nail line, like a french mani, in an attempt to cover my nail. It didn’t really work but I loved all of the glitter!

This is three coats of polish with topcoat.

Sally Hansen Wild Life

Hi Everyone :)

I have another Anti-Valentines mani today and I’m going to show you how I did it too. When I posted the Revlon Tanzanite striping tape mani, the lovely Ting asked for a tutorial, so here it is!

I have to mention that I had no power or water yesterday, because of the terrible weather, so the quality of the pictures and the mani itself isn’t great. I decided to still post it because, it still shows how I achieved the look – but please forgive the bubbles and weird lighting :)

First step: I applied base coat. At the moment I’m using Essie Millionails. (It’s really good if you’re thinking about trying a new base coat, I have zero complaints).

210.1 01

Then I applied two coats of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Wild Life. (Again, sorry for the bubbles.)

210.2 01

I then cut off 12 long pieces of striping tape and stuck them to the lid of my topcoat. (Catrice Quick Dry and High Shine Top Coat – a new favourite.) It’s easier to remove the tape if you use long pieces, and easier to handle when applying.

210.3 01

This next step is the key to getting the particular pattern I used in the Revlon Tanzanite mani. I used my tweezers to stick one piece of tape from the bottom corner of my nail, to the opposite top corner.

210.4 01

Then I added two more pieces, above and parallel to this piece of tape.

210.5 01

The next step is to stick a piece of tape to the other bottom corner of the nail and only bring it as far as the very first piece of tape.

210.6 01

Then add two more pieces, one either side.

210.7 01

This is the completed pattern. Now all you have to do is paint over it in black (Essie Licorice) and remove the pieces of tape immediately using a tweezers.

Tips: If you slowly pull the tape from one side to the other, you’ll get a cleaner line. Use a thin coat of polish and again, remove immediately. (I didn’t remove immediately because I was taking pictures and that’s why the lines are a bit crooked)

210.8 01

I repeated this on my pinkie and this is how it looks so far.

210.9 01

I wanted to cover the pink nails because they bubbled so I decided to make it an Anti-Valentines mani and add a black striped heart and a black glitter heart.

210.15 01

Finally, I want to show you this polish I got in Dealz (the Irish version of Poundland) – it’s called Pretty Metallic Nail Polish and I love it! It does smell awful though.

What do you think?

Bourjois Bleu Fabuleux

Hi everyone! :)

I have the most gorgeous blue polish to show you today! I wanted this colour for aggges! I finally got my hands on it when I saw it half price on Asos.com. (A girl has to live on a budget ya know!) It dried to a satin finish, so I couldn’t wait to see it in the sun, because if a polish dries matte, then it’s usually neon. It wasn’t neon but it is nice and bright.

I used two coats of polish and a coat of NYC Grand Central Station, but had sheet marks the next morning, (after letting it dry for an hour), so I then topped it off with Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Gel Effect Plumping Topcoat. The Nails Inc topcoat has a slight blue tint, which annoyed me when I used it over OPI I Think In Pink, because I used a couple of coats over a few days, and it did cool the pink colour slightly. However, over this blue polish, I think the topcoat looked amazing.

Finally I want to say that the glitter is from a pack I bought in Claire’s and the glitter placement design is copied form polishallthenails.com. I was coping her using this type of glitter but in this way. I looooovvvee her blog! You should definitely check it out, especially if, like me, you love glitter, holo or neon polish! :)

Hope you like it and thanks for looking! :)

7 Deadly Sins Tag

Hi Everyone! :)

I was tagged by gingerlovesmakeup. This tag was the 7 Deadly Sins of Make-up, but because this is a nail blog, I changed it slightly so that it’s all about nail polish! I hope you like it! :)

Greed: What is your most expensive nail polish?

My single most expensive nail polish is OPI Don’t touch my tutu and I bought it with OPI Pirouette My Whistle, so together they cost 29Euro – eek! Look how pretty they are though! :)

OPI Don't Touch My Tutu and Pirouette My Whistle (EN)

Wrath: What nail polish do you have a strong love/hate relationship with?

Believe it or not, I have a love/hate relationship with holographic nail polish. I absolutely love, LOVE, holographic nail polish, but I spend most of my time indoors and many holographics only really come alive outside. So I end up not wearing them very often. Here’s a great example of a holographic polish that works indoors as well as out: Jade Vermelho Surreal. These pics were taken inside under an ordinary bedroom light and look how pretty! :)

202.8 Jade Vermelho Surreal (EN)202.9 Jade Vermelho Surreal (EN)202.10 Jade Vermelho Surreal (EN)

Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?

I had to go count them all to answer this question, and I had to recount, twice, because I can’t believe I have 70 Essence nail polishes.

O.O

Here’s one of my favourite Essence nail polishes: The Boy Next Door. (The silver accent nail is Rimmel Shooting Star, my all time favourite texture polish).

202.11 Essence The Boy Next Door and Rimmel Shooting Star (EN)

Sloth: What nail polish do you ignore the most, due to laziness?

I rarely use ridge filler because I don’t want to wait for an extra layer of nail polish to try and I mostly wear just one polish because it’s too difficult to match/accent and layer them!

Here’s an example of a lazy mani: Misa Bikini with a Martini.

202.13 Misa Bikini with a Martini (EN)

and here’s a mani that I put alot of effort into. This was copied from a design I saw on WAH nails. I used Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace (white), IsaDora Bella Vita (purple) and W7 Gold Dazzle (gold glitter on thumb).

202.14 Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace and Isadora Bella Vita (EN)202.15 W7 Gold Dazzle and Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace (EN)

Pride: Which nail polish gives you the most confidence?

Anything bright or sparkly! For example, this IsaDora Sugar Crush, which is both! :)

202.16 IsaDora Sugar Crush (EN)

Lust: What nail polish is at the top of your wish list?

Lacquistry Amazeballs. Full stop.

Envy: Which nail polish looks great on others but not on you?

Pastel purple!! I loove pastel purple, but it always looks too cold and grey on me and so bright and springy on other people. I keep buying them, hoping I’ll find one that suits me, but no luck so far. Here’s a pic of Essence Hello Marshmallow! It’s such a pretty pastel purple, on other people! :)

202.18 Essence Hello Marshmallow! (EN)

That’s all 7 sins! I hope you liked this post and looking at some of my older manis! Let me know what you think in the comments! :D

Nicole by OPI Kourt Is Red-y For A Pedi

Hi Everyone!

I’m a little late posting these but I had to share my little Snowman with you guys! I called him Harry! (See him below)

I had loads of ideas for Christmas nails but time got away from me this year and this was my only attempt.

The red base colour is Nicole by OPI Kourt is Red-y For a Pedi. I used striping tape* to create a candy cane pattern on my pinkie. I simply dipped my finger in some green (no name) glitter and patted it over a layer of wet topcoat to create the green glitter gradient on my ring finger. My Middle finger is supposed to be a Christmas tree with holographic bar glitter as tinsel and red caviar beads as baubles and a red star on top but I think using red was a mistake because you can’t really see them and I used my Model’s Own white nail art pen/striper to freehand a snowflake design on my ring finger.

(I’m describing each nail in case you can’t tell what I meant them to be :P)

193.1 Christmas Nails 00

This is my snowman Harry! He has a little blue holographic bar glitter scarf to keep him warm out in the falling snow! I added some Nails Inc Electric Lane for extra sparkle over Harry and my index finger and topped everything off with Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat.

193.3 Christmas Nails 00

Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas!

*Just in case anyone doesn’t know what striping tape is; it’s a teeny, tiny roll of sellotape that can be used like painters tape and applied over dry nail polish, painted over and removed to create straight lines.

Orly Naughty and Essence Gold Leaf

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

I wanted to start this year off with one of my New Year’s resolutions – to have my own blog!

So welcome to my very first post! I hope you enjoy.

This is Orly Naughty which is a fabulous vampy red. I used two coats and I wanted to add something to make it a bit more special for the Holidays so I added some gold leaf that came in an Essence nail art kit. Finally, I topped it off with Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat. Unfortunately the topcoat dulled the shine of the gold leaf and caused the nail polish to run a bit but I still liked the overall look.

190.1 Orly Naughty and Essence Gold Leaf

I suspected the gold leaf would dull when I added topcoat so on my other hand I used some gold shards, which were also in the Essence nail art kit.

190.2 Orly Naughty and Essence Gold Shards

This turned out much better. I liked this combo a lot! The gold shards really caught the light and I though they were a nice contrast to the vampy red. I thought of it as grown up bling :)
