OPI A Roll in the Hague, Sinful Colors Envy and Snow Me White and Essie Licorice

Hi everyone!

Happy St Patrick’s Day! :D

(These were my nails for the big day, and this was supposed to be posted on time, but I had technical issues)

(And no, I don’t mean I had too much green beer! :)

You are looking at the Irish Flag on my ring finger and little Guinnesses on my other fingers. Which, I thought, was the perfect representation of the day itself!

I used Essie Licorice (black), Sinful Colors Snow Me White (white), Sinful Colors Envy (green) and OPI A Roll in the Hague (gold).

Hope you all had a great day! Leprechauns for everyone!

I had to take a pic of the Irish Flag polishes too – I was feeling very patriotic! :)

I also wanted to show you the little shamrock earrings I ordered from BornPrettyStore.com. They had a St Patrick’s Day sale and what kind of an Irish girl on St Patrick’s Day would I be without shamrock earrings!? I couldn’t resist! They are too friggin cute!

They roped me in with their free samples and 10% off coupon code and now I can’t stop buying things off them! *Shakes fist in anger but then stops to admire tiny cheap earrings* :D

Last thing! I took part in the #NailLinkUp this month! Twice! It’s a really great idea run by a bunch of great bloggers – here are the details for this month and go to any of the bloggers listed below for more deets :)

and here are all the links to the bloggers that took part in the St Patrick’s Day challenge :D

OPI I Think in Pink, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Essence Pixie Dust

Hi :)

I was pressed for time to do my nails this week but wanted to use Essence Pixie Dust in some way and ended up with this quick and easy funky french.

I used two coats of I Think in Pink, added white tips with a sponge and put Pixie Dust just over the white tips. I wanted to be able to see the glassfleck in Pixie Dust but didn’t want to hide the squishy finish of I Think in Pink. That’s it. Quick and easy.

Let me know what you think :)

(Oh! and I’m still wearing the free sample Jamberry Nails Black and White Stripe nail wrap on my pinkie. I’m wearing it for a week so see how it holds up. So far, I’m really impressed!)

Holographic nail polish! Hits Hefesto, Nails Inc Electric Lane Holographic Topcoat and Model’s Own Juicy Jules.

Hi :)

A few days ago, a girl posted a manicure that was all of her holographic nail polishes all at once on reddit and it was ammmA-zing! So of course I had to try it too!

(I can’t find the post now but if you see this please message me and I’ll link to you and give you credit!).

As a base I used a couple of coats of Wet n Wild 2% Milk. It is the most beautiful, flattering sheer nude polish but I forgot to take pictures of it, so I’ll do another post on just that polish at a later date.

Then I added two coats of Hits Hefesto which is a holographic topcoat. (Hits re-released this polish with a new, better, formula and you can buy it here.) Video below!

Then I added two coats of Nails Inc Electric Lane Holographic Topcoat, which is a super fine silver/holographic glitter. Video below!

Then I added a coat of Model’s Own Juicy Jules just on the bottom half of my nails, because I didn’t want to drown out the other, finer polishes. All the holographics! :D Video below!

This was so much fun!

Rimmel Luna Love and Total Eclipse (Space Dust)

Hi :)

Me and the lovely Jaimie of addalittlepolish.com decided to do a collaboration for Valentine’s day! I’m so excited to be doing this with her because she does the cutest manis and it was fun doing something with another blogger, especially one as nice as her.

We decided that we would both do a mani with a gradient theme, but I would do an Anti-Valentine’s version and she would do a Valentine’s version. You can check out her version here! :) She’s also on Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook so you can check out all of her cute nail designs. :)

I used Rimmel Luna Love and Total Eclipse from the Space Dust Collection. (Best texture collection ever!). Luna Love is a bright pink texture with blue shimmer, it is beautiful and it’s perfect for a Valentine’s mani.

But I didn’t want a Valentine’s mani, I wanted an Anti-Valentine’s mani so I used Total Eclipse over it. Total Eclipse is a black texture with green shimmer. Both of these polishes are gorgeous!

The idea is that I’m trying to cover Valentine’s, (pink), with the gaping hole that is singledom, (black ), but it’s not completely covered because love is stronger than hate, it will never be completely wiped out. :) I’m keeping hope alive people! *Passes chocolate around*

Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters

Hi :)

I love this glitter! It’s so colourful and sooo reflective – it really is a party in a bottle. I’m definitely going to recreate this mani for my B-day. :)

I first used two coats of NYC Carrie’d Away as a nude base and then simply painted one coat of glitter the usual way, then the second coat I started about a third of the way down the nail and for the last coat I just painted the bottom third of my nail. The end result is a graduated look.

The glitter looks like it’s falling down my nails! *Squee* It’s so cute!

Plus, it was so easy to do! (It’s the same method I used for my syrup mani.)

I hope you like it and I urge you to try it, it’s so easy to do and it gives a great effect! :)

Sally Hansen Velveteen (Velvet Texture) and China Glaze Elfin’ Around

Hi :)

I loved yesterdays polish so much that I couldn’t take it off yet, so instead I went to Google for some inspiration to spice it up. That’s where I found a pic of the Nicole Miller Fall 2014 runway nails. I used China Glaze Elfin’ Around and a striping nail art brush to try and recreate the look and this is how it turned out.

Sally Hansen Velveteen and China Glaze Elfin’ Around:

It didn’t quite look the same and I wasn’t sure why, (other than the fact that these nails were copied by me in my pyjamas eating Nutella from the jar and the runway nails were created by a professional!), and then I read the description of the nails and it said Katie Jane Hughes used a matte top coat to create her look. So then I added Essie Matte About You over the whole thing. (Didn’t get Nutella on my keyboard.)

Then I declared to an empty room, with a chocolate covered spoon held to the sky: “Close Enough!” and went to bed. :)

NYC NY Princess (Crystal Couture)

Hi :D

I tried a new technique today. I’m feeling adventurous and brave. I defy the nail art Gods! I will master the dark arts of the nail art brush, sponge and striping tape!

It’s called a Syrup mani and here’s how you do it:

You take a jelly (sheer) finish nail polish and you paint one coat as usual on the whole nail, but on the second coat you start about a third of the way down the nail. Then on the third coat you just paint the bottom third of the nail, so you get a kind of gradient effect but with just one colour. It’s supposed to look like syrup dripping off the nails I think?

Anyway that’s what I tried today, I used NYC NY Princess which is a fab dark purple jelly with purple glitter. (Glitter makes everything better!)

What do you think?

Maybelline Ocean Blue and Orly Sparkle Soaked

Hi everyone! :)

Today’s mani is blue, blue and some more blue! I used Maybelline’s gorgeous glassfleck, called Ocean Blue, as the base and, as always, I wanted more bling; so I added some Orly Sparkle Soaked glitter to my ring finger and thumb.

The formulas of both polishes were perfect. No problems.

I used two coats of the Maybelline and I dabbed on some of the Orly, trying to achieve a lazy gradient effect, and it still applied perfectly. This mani was really simple to do but I loved the result. (If I do say so myself!)

Both polishes have a realllllyyy subtle, realllly tiny pink/purple glassfleck effect and it’s pretty up close. If you look realllllyy closely at my ring finger you can see it :)

I used Essie Good To Go topcoat! :)

I’d love to hear if you guys have any polishing shortcuts? (Like dabbing the glitter on towards the end of the nail with the brush to make it look like a gradient instead of using a sponge.)

Nails Inc Park Lane Mews and Nails Inc Marlybone Lane

Hi Everyone :)

Today I’m wearing two of the mini Nails Inc polishes that came in The Editors box set.

Park Lane Mews is a lovely wine red, very nice colour and flattering on. I was going to wear this on it’s own, but I was in a hurry and didn’t wait for it to dry, so it bubbled like mad all over. I thought I’d fix this by doing a glitter gradient, but the bubbles were all over the nails, so the gradient came nearly the whole way up to the cuticle. I ended up liking the result just because both polishes are so pretty but this isn’t my best effort! :)

Marlybone Lane is a glitter polish, and first let me just say, nothing sparkles like a Nails Inc glitter. I wiggled my fingers all over Ireland to watch this polish sparkle :) I thought it was a red glitter from looking at the bottle but it was actually red and pink with black glitter. It looked really fab on and the colour combo was amazing. I will definitely be wearing this again. I’m just sorry it’s a mini bottle because it’ll be used up soon! :)

Deborah Lippmann Fashion

Hi Everyone!

Last Sunday night the Oscars aired and I finally got to see it yesterday. I’ve always paid attention to what everyone had on their nails, because nails are my favourite part, but in recent years it’s become alot easier to see them because of the Mani-Cam.

This year I thought there was a big trend for pale, sheer nude nails. I like this trend because it’s simple, clean and girly. My favourite Mani-Cam nails were Amy Adams nude nails. The colour suited her and she had rounded nails which are very natural looking and on trend.

Also featured on the Mani-Cam were Lupita Nyong’o and Jessica Biel, both had nude nails. Kristin Chenoweth was on the mani cam too and had long stiletto nude nails that had a fun gold glitter gradient at the tips, which I loved. I can’t resist adding a bit of sparkle to my own nails :)

To see the Mani-Cam, and the nails I just mentioned, in action click here.

My tribute to the Oscar 2014 nude nails is Deborah Lippman Fashion. Although the nude nails of the night were pinker and sheer, I’ve been dying to try out this polish since I bought it and although the colour isn’t exactally what was used on the night, the brand is very fitting because Deborah Lippman did the nails for  Lupita Nyong’o and her work can often be seen on the runway. It’s only fitting that I chose one of her polishes. :)

Here it is alone:

225.1 Deborah Lippmann Fashion

I had to add some glitter a la Kristen Chenowith. (I agree with Julia Roberts that the Oscars is a place for classic Hollywood glamour and not nail art, but nail art is so fun!) I used Catrice Million Dollar Baby and simply started painting half way down the nail to get this effect.

225.2 Deborah Lippmann Fashion and Catrice Million Dollar Baby

What did you guys think of this years Oscar nails? Do you prefer when the stars go classic  like Giuliana Rancic or when they wear nail art like Maria Menounos?

Thanks for looking!

-Eleobel

P.s. When I was googling pics of Oscar nails, I came across this great list of the eight best nail looks on Julep.com. They’re second fav nail look was Kristen Chenowith’s – the nails that inspired today’s mani! Of course then I started looking at their nail polishes – so many great colours! My wish list just got a bit longer! :)
