Sinful Colors Snow Me White

Hi :)

So as you may have gathered from my recent posts, I’m a little conflicted about Valentine’s Day. I love all things pink and sparkly and heart shaped every other day of the year but there’s something weird about this stooopid holiday that makes it less of a celebration when you’re single. I still want to do nail art but the nagging single-ness stops me reaching for the neon pinks and heart shaped glitters. (My poor heart shaped glitters, they get so little love, ironically.)

So when I saw this post on mkmyday it spoke to me! Then I came across Sinful Colors Snow Me White in Dealz and fate decided for me! Black and white it is! If you like nail art then you should really check out mkmyday on tumblr or instagram. They do the coolest designs :)

A word about Snow Me White. Perfection.

It is the most perfect white creme ever. The formula is like melted butter. Two coats and done. Highly recommended. I did the little shaky hearts and dots with my Model’s Own Nail Art Pen. Then added a coat of Essie Matte About You. I’ll be honest; I only added the matte topcoat because I thought it was my regular topcoat. The bottles are identical. :)

NYC Ruby Queen (Crystal Couture)

Hi :)

I loved yesterday’s checker water decals so much I didn’t take them off! I’ve never kept polish on one nail and changed the others but it’s such a cute design, I couldn’t dissolve it! I’ll never be able to recreate those little squares so perfectly ever again. I’m hoarding the rest of the packet like the ring of Mordor. :)

The red polish is NYC Ruby Queen. I’ve gushed over my love of the Crystal Couture collection here and here and I’m going to gush again! I LOVE this collection! It’s a set of jelly polishes packed with glitter and they are so bright and sparkly and squishy! I looove them so hard! You must try them, you won’t be disappointed.

This one is red and pink glitter in a jelly base, the glitter glowed within the jelly. Then I wanted to make it more Valentine-y so I added the word “Love”, shakily. See why I can’t ever recreate the little squares? :) But then the single bitter side of me poked it’s little head out and I added “Hate” to my pinkie and then I just drew squiggles for funsies. :)

Then I added Essie Matte About You:

Are you going to try any Valentine’s nail art? :)

Hard Candy Jubilee

Hi :)

Jubilee is a green jelly nail polish with tiny and large black glitter, silver hex and orange bar glitter. The formula was a bit thick, the bar glitter stuck out everywhere and the colour was patchy, but it’s the perfect look for a Halloween mani!

The colour reminded me of when they slime someone at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Anyone else used to love that? :)

I added drippy’s using my Model’s Own Nail Art Pen for Halloween in January! :)

Why says you can only do Halloween nails at Halloween? :)

NYC Velvet Chic

Hi :)

NYC Velvet Chic is a lovely light grey creme polish. I felt very chic and understated wearing this colour, so of course I had to put a stop to that in a hurry! :D

I took some neon polish, (American Apparel Neon Red), and my Model’s Own Nail Art Pen and tried to recreate this Wah Nails Tribal mani. I only did one nail because I didn’t want to ruin the whole thing altogether!

It wasn’t a complete disaster but the dots at the top of my nail are supposed to be tiny thin lines…sooo… practice make perfect? :)

Sally Hansen Velveteen (Velvet Texture) and China Glaze Elfin’ Around

Hi :)

I loved yesterdays polish so much that I couldn’t take it off yet, so instead I went to Google for some inspiration to spice it up. That’s where I found a pic of the Nicole Miller Fall 2014 runway nails. I used China Glaze Elfin’ Around and a striping nail art brush to try and recreate the look and this is how it turned out.

Sally Hansen Velveteen and China Glaze Elfin’ Around:

It didn’t quite look the same and I wasn’t sure why, (other than the fact that these nails were copied by me in my pyjamas eating Nutella from the jar and the runway nails were created by a professional!), and then I read the description of the nails and it said Katie Jane Hughes used a matte top coat to create her look. So then I added Essie Matte About You over the whole thing. (Didn’t get Nutella on my keyboard.)

Sally Hansen Velveteen, China Glaze Elfin’ Around and Essie Matte About You:

Then I declared to an empty room, with a chocolate covered spoon held to the sky: “Close Enough!” and went to bed. :)

Catrice Apropos Coco

Hi Everyone! :)

Happy Valentine’s Day! <3

I have a couple of looks to show you today:

I found this gorgeous light pink nail polish from Catrice called Apropos Coco and thought it was perfect for Valentine’s Day. Of course, I had to add a little sparkle to it. So I added the little heart using Barry M Rose Quartz and the rhinestones because they matched the glitter. I thought it was a very sweet, girly mani.

Next, I have a purple stripe heart mani because it was requested by Margaret after I posted this Sinful Colors mani.

I wanted to make it a bit different so that I wasn’t repeating myself so I did ombre hearts.

I used, from pinkie to index, Nails Inc Duchess Street, China Glaze Creative Fantasy, Bella Pierre Lavender and Sinful Colors Beverly Hills. The white is Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace.

I did a dotted heart on my thumb with the same purple polishes and really liked how it turned out. (I sometimes experiment on my thumb because you never see it :)

So, instead of repeating the striped hearts on my other hand, I decided to try the dotted heart again, only in pink. I liked it again!

By now, I was confident that I could do dotted hearts and did them on my whole hand..but I think I was overly confident because they don’t look like hearts!

I love the different sized dots though – it’s like a cute colour blind test. Next time I’ll just dot the whole nail and I think that will look better.

What do you guys think of my Valentine’s nails?

I hope you’re all having a great day!

Thanks for looking :)

7 Deadly Sins Tag

Hi Everyone! :)

I was tagged by gingerlovesmakeup. This tag was the 7 Deadly Sins of Make-up, but because this is a nail blog, I changed it slightly so that it’s all about nail polish! I hope you like it! :)

Greed: What is your most expensive nail polish?

My single most expensive nail polish is OPI Don’t touch my tutu and I bought it with OPI Pirouette My Whistle, so together they cost 29Euro – eek! Look how pretty they are though! :)

OPI Don't Touch My Tutu and Pirouette My Whistle (EN)

Wrath: What nail polish do you have a strong love/hate relationship with?

Believe it or not, I have a love/hate relationship with holographic nail polish. I absolutely love, LOVE, holographic nail polish, but I spend most of my time indoors and many holographics only really come alive outside. So I end up not wearing them very often. Here’s a great example of a holographic polish that works indoors as well as out: Jade Vermelho Surreal. These pics were taken inside under an ordinary bedroom light and look how pretty! :)

202.8 Jade Vermelho Surreal (EN)202.9 Jade Vermelho Surreal (EN)202.10 Jade Vermelho Surreal (EN)

Gluttony: What brand takes up most of your collection?

I had to go count them all to answer this question, and I had to recount, twice, because I can’t believe I have 70 Essence nail polishes.

O.O

Here’s one of my favourite Essence nail polishes: The Boy Next Door. (The silver accent nail is Rimmel Shooting Star, my all time favourite texture polish).

202.11 Essence The Boy Next Door and Rimmel Shooting Star (EN)

Sloth: What nail polish do you ignore the most, due to laziness?

I rarely use ridge filler because I don’t want to wait for an extra layer of nail polish to try and I mostly wear just one polish because it’s too difficult to match/accent and layer them!

Here’s an example of a lazy mani: Misa Bikini with a Martini.

202.13 Misa Bikini with a Martini (EN)

and here’s a mani that I put alot of effort into. This was copied from a design I saw on WAH nails. I used Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace (white), IsaDora Bella Vita (purple) and W7 Gold Dazzle (gold glitter on thumb).

202.14 Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace and Isadora Bella Vita (EN)202.15 W7 Gold Dazzle and Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace (EN)

Pride: Which nail polish gives you the most confidence?

Anything bright or sparkly! For example, this IsaDora Sugar Crush, which is both! :)

202.16 IsaDora Sugar Crush (EN)

Lust: What nail polish is at the top of your wish list?

Lacquistry Amazeballs. Full stop.

Envy: Which nail polish looks great on others but not on you?

Pastel purple!! I loove pastel purple, but it always looks too cold and grey on me and so bright and springy on other people. I keep buying them, hoping I’ll find one that suits me, but no luck so far. Here’s a pic of Essence Hello Marshmallow! It’s such a pretty pastel purple, on other people! :)

202.18 Essence Hello Marshmallow! (EN)

That’s all 7 sins! I hope you liked this post and looking at some of my older manis! Let me know what you think in the comments! :D

Barry M Lychee and Sinful Colors Me First

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m wearing a lovely nude colour – I was in the mood for something simple and clean and this is the perfect polish for that. This is Barry M Lychee which was part of the Gelly collection. Everything you may have heard about this collection is true. They have a great formula, coverage and are nice and shiny, like Gelly (or Jelly?).

After I put it on, I wanted to jazz it up a bit without covering it up too much (because I like it!) and decided to put a neon line down the middle using a Sinful Colors Striper called Me First…this is when things went all wrong!

I waited too long to remove the striping tape that I used to create the line down the middle and removed half of the line. Then I washed my hands and all the fluff from the towel stuck to the glue the tape left behind, gross! So in an attempt to save the whole mani, I drew squiggly lines down either side of the neon  with my black Wah Nails nail art pen.

I still don’t know if I saved the mani or ruined it but  wanted to share it with you anyway.

What do you think? Did I save the mani or is it ruined?

Nicole by OPI Kourt Is Red-y For A Pedi

Hi Everyone!

I’m a little late posting these but I had to share my little Snowman with you guys! I called him Harry! (See him below)

I had loads of ideas for Christmas nails but time got away from me this year and this was my only attempt.

The red base colour is Nicole by OPI Kourt is Red-y For a Pedi. I used striping tape* to create a candy cane pattern on my pinkie. I simply dipped my finger in some green (no name) glitter and patted it over a layer of wet topcoat to create the green glitter gradient on my ring finger. My Middle finger is supposed to be a Christmas tree with holographic bar glitter as tinsel and red caviar beads as baubles and a red star on top but I think using red was a mistake because you can’t really see them and I used my Model’s Own white nail art pen/striper to freehand a snowflake design on my ring finger.

(I’m describing each nail in case you can’t tell what I meant them to be :P)

193.1 Christmas Nails 00

This is my snowman Harry! He has a little blue holographic bar glitter scarf to keep him warm out in the falling snow! I added some Nails Inc Electric Lane for extra sparkle over Harry and my index finger and topped everything off with Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat.

193.3 Christmas Nails 00

Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas!

*Just in case anyone doesn’t know what striping tape is; it’s a teeny, tiny roll of sellotape that can be used like painters tape and applied over dry nail polish, painted over and removed to create straight lines.
