Orly Beach Cruiser and Born Pretty Store Neon Pink Glitter

Hi :)

Now that we finally have some sunshine here, I want to wear neon! I love neon nails, they look so vivid in the sun. Do you wear neon in the Summer? I get a lot of comments when I wear neon, not all of it positive! (So rude!)

I put on two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, the best white nail polish I have ever used, then put striping tape down the middle of my nail and added a thick coat of Orly Beach Cruiser on one side.

Beach Cruiser photographed a bit darker than it is in person but it’s so difficult to capture neon, especially in the Sun. The camera reacts like my cat when I’m trying to give it medicine, “No! NO! NO!“.

Then I added some round neon pink glitter from BornPrettyStore.com. The glitter is 1.68 euro and they do free worldwide shipping AND this code will get you a further 10% off, which makes it a bargain in any language! :)

OPI A Roll in the Hague, Sinful Colors Envy and Snow Me White and Essie Licorice

Hi everyone!

Happy St Patrick’s Day! :D

(These were my nails for the big day, and this was supposed to be posted on time, but I had technical issues)

(And no, I don’t mean I had too much green beer! :)

You are looking at the Irish Flag on my ring finger and little Guinnesses on my other fingers. Which, I thought, was the perfect representation of the day itself!

I used Essie Licorice (black), Sinful Colors Snow Me White (white), Sinful Colors Envy (green) and OPI A Roll in the Hague (gold).

Hope you all had a great day! Leprechauns for everyone!

I had to take a pic of the Irish Flag polishes too – I was feeling very patriotic! :)

I also wanted to show you the little shamrock earrings I ordered from BornPrettyStore.com. They had a St Patrick’s Day sale and what kind of an Irish girl on St Patrick’s Day would I be without shamrock earrings!? I couldn’t resist! They are too friggin cute!

They roped me in with their free samples and 10% off coupon code and now I can’t stop buying things off them! *Shakes fist in anger but then stops to admire tiny cheap earrings* :D

Last thing! I took part in the #NailLinkUp this month! Twice! It’s a really great idea run by a bunch of great bloggers – here are the details for this month and go to any of the bloggers listed below for more deets :)

and here are all the links to the bloggers that took part in the St Patrick’s Day challenge :D

Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond

Hi :)

As I mentioned herebornprettystore.com sent me a few free samples, and one of the free samples was a little packet of checker water decals. I love water decals, they are the greatest nail hack ever! They’re like super thin stickers that no one can tell are stickers. Instant nail art! (A much, much cheaper alternative to nail wraps and easier to use.)

They have a decal for every single kind of nail art effect, galaxy, water marble, even cats! :D Look! So if you want to try any of these looks without opening a bottle of nail polish or spending more than a single euro, then I’d check out the website! :)

To get the look below, I painted three coats of Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond, a beautiful bright red jelly, (it’s bright and squishy and I love it!), and NYC Sugar Heel on my ring finger. I then used striping tape to make little white triangle moons and cut the decals the same shape as the moons.

I dipped the decals in water for a second and then they came away from the cardboard backing really easily and just used my fingers to place them on my nail. The decal is super thin but not sticky so it’s really easy to handle and place.

PLUS this little packet cost 0.87cent, they have free worldwide shipping, and if you use this discount code, AZHQ10, then you get 10% off which makes them 0.78cent! TOTAL! Even I can afford that! (I’ve already ordered another packet in a houndstooth design! :D Yay for cheap supplies! *Dance*

P.s. When I was looking through the site, I came across this little plastic mouse that I thought was so ridiculous that I laughed out loud, but then I realised that it’s the perfect thing to use when your nails are wet! I didn’t buy it but I went from laughing to thinking it was genius! What do you think? :D

Revlon Ruby Ribbon (Matte Suede)

Hi :)

Revlon Ruby Ribbon is a deep raspberry colour matte finish nail polish with delicate white shimmer. I used three coats to make it a bit darker but it only barely needed two coats – which would have given a lighter more raspberry colour than pictured here.

It was gorgeous, and although I love matte/textured polishes on their own and rarely topcoat them, I wanted to do something to this polish just because I’m trying to experiment with nail art. So I added topcoat to the tips.

However, the shiny tips didn’t stand out or look good! So then I topcoated the whole thing and tried to distract from the fact that I made a pretty polish less so by adding triangle studs and some striping tape.

Judge the results for yourself! :)

I should have just left this one alone! I loved it matte to begin with!

Do you prefer matte or shiny nail polish?

NYC Fashion Queen (Crystal Couture) and Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond

Hi :)

NYC Fashion Queen was so deliciously sparkly and metallic that I couldn’t take it off, or stop staring at my nails, so instead I added a coat of a fab bright red jelly polish called Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond.

The jelly finish of the red polish meant that you could still see the sparkle and metallic finish under the red, so I got the best of both worlds, squishy and shiny! :D

A jelly sandwich is when you put on a coat of jelly nail polish, then a glitter, then another coat of jelly polish, i.e. you sandwich the glitter between two coats of jelly. (Anyone else getting hungry?)

This was just a coat of jelly polish over another polish so it’s more like….jelly on toast? Anyway I liked how it turned out. :)

I used striping tape to make the V shapes and Seche Vite to seal it all in. I hope you like it :)

L.A. Colors Candy Sprinkles and Electrified

On today’s episode of, “When nail art goes bad”,…*dramatic music*…

I couldn’t leave well enough alone! I had to keep trying nail art. I thought I was soo cool! I couldn’t just stick to plain swatches, ohhh nooo! I had to try and be creattiivee. When will I learn? When. Will. I. Learn?

When Nails Inc came out with their sprinkles collection, I couldn’t afford them, (still can’t), and reallllly wanted them. So when cheaper versions became available, I bought them all! I have a bunch of this exact same sprinkles-type  polish and so I wanted to add something to it, I didn’t want to repeat a look I’ve already worn.

My idea was to pair it with a metallic pink. I thought the more pink the better and the metallic glitter will work with the metallic polish? I was wrrroong! The sprinkles was really nice on it’s own and I should have left it that way.

To add insult to injury, the metallic pink was gorgeous on it’s own too, I should have just worn both polishes separately and I would have had two lovely manis. *Sigh* Instead of this:

I didn’t ruin my right hand! :) Here’s Candy Sprinkles on it’s own:

So what did I learn from this? NOTHING! I’m doing monsterous nail art right now!

Tune in tomorrow for the next episode of, “When nail art goes bad!”……*dramatic music*

Oh My Gosh Cobalt Blue and 17 Silver (Holo)

Hi :)

I have two gorgeous polishes on today and zero pictures that capture that beauty! (I tried my best!)

Oh My Gosh Cobalt Blue is the Holy Grail of blues for me. I’ve always wanted a polish that is dark blue but not to the point that it just looks like I’m wearing black polish. It has to be dark and also blue, and this is! (Am I making sense? or is this crazy nail polish talk?)

17 came out with a holographic polish some years ago and it’s simply called Silver. (Do you remember seeing it in every Boots ad, in every magazine, coming up to Christmas and then checking the 17 stand in Boots every week only to never find it there? …Just me? Ok. Maybe that was just me.) Anyway…*cough* I found it! I went to Dublin for some xmas shopping and found quite a few wishlist polishes and this was one of the best!

It looks like a plain, dull, white silver in the shade but in the sun it comes alive! You get that gorgeous rainbow effect. I love it. So much fun to wear when you’re going anywhere. (Holographic polish has to be worn to the beach in the Summer!)

Here are the best pics I could take of it :)

Wet n Wild I Need A Refresh-Mint

Hi :)

I’m having lots of fun experimenting with nail art but it’s so scary because it’s very difficult to make it look like it does on Pinterest! Those girls are professionals! (Nail Technicians, not the other kind of professional. ;)

Today I thought, “Why try one nail art effect, when you can try them all?” and I ended up with dots, stripes, chevrons and (always) glitter!

– I used NYC Frozen Metal (silver) under Wet n Wild I Need A Refresh-Mint (green) for the stripes on my index finger.

– My Middle finger is two coats of No7 Snow Wash over I Need A Refresh-Mint.

– Ring finger is Rimmel Disco Fever, hand placed, over NYC Frozen Metal.

– Pinkie is Deborah Lippman Amazing Grace over I Need A Refresh-Mint.

My version of Pinterest nails:

Wet n Wild Disturbia and Orly Luxe

Hi :)

After my success copying the Jessica Biel mani, I wanted to try some more nail art. I was on a high and success breeds confidence! However, I’m not very skilled at art or very creative so I went to the always impressive The Nailasaurus for inspiration and saw this.

The Nailasaurus created this look by hand drawing the gold lines, but that’s way out of my league, so I thought I might recreate it with striping tape.

It wasn’t a huge success but overall I thought it was cool looking (from a distance). It turned out to be the same, general, kind of look? Similar? Well at least I tried! :D

I used Wet n Wild Disturbia which is an almost black nail polish with beautiful purple shimmer, (that doesn’t translate to the nails), and Orly Luxe, the best gold nail polish on record. (My record, in my head.)
