Rimmel Luna Love and Total Eclipse (Space Dust)

Hi :)

Me and the lovely Jaimie of addalittlepolish.com decided to do a collaboration for Valentine’s day! I’m so excited to be doing this with her because she does the cutest manis and it was fun doing something with another blogger, especially one as nice as her.

We decided that we would both do a mani with a gradient theme, but I would do an Anti-Valentine’s version and she would do a Valentine’s version. You can check out her version here! :) She’s also on Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook so you can check out all of her cute nail designs. :)

I used Rimmel Luna Love and Total Eclipse from the Space Dust Collection. (Best texture collection ever!). Luna Love is a bright pink texture with blue shimmer, it is beautiful and it’s perfect for a Valentine’s mani.

But I didn’t want a Valentine’s mani, I wanted an Anti-Valentine’s mani so I used Total Eclipse over it. Total Eclipse is a black texture with green shimmer. Both of these polishes are gorgeous!

The idea is that I’m trying to cover Valentine’s, (pink), with the gaping hole that is singledom, (black ), but it’s not completely covered because love is stronger than hate, it will never be completely wiped out. :) I’m keeping hope alive people! *Passes chocolate around*

Sinful Colors Snow Me White

Hi :)

So as you may have gathered from my recent posts, I’m a little conflicted about Valentine’s Day. I love all things pink and sparkly and heart shaped every other day of the year but there’s something weird about this stooopid holiday that makes it less of a celebration when you’re single. I still want to do nail art but the nagging single-ness stops me reaching for the neon pinks and heart shaped glitters. (My poor heart shaped glitters, they get so little love, ironically.)

So when I saw this post on mkmyday it spoke to me! Then I came across Sinful Colors Snow Me White in Dealz and fate decided for me! Black and white it is! If you like nail art then you should really check out mkmyday on tumblr or instagram. They do the coolest designs :)

A word about Snow Me White. Perfection.

It is the most perfect white creme ever. The formula is like melted butter. Two coats and done. Highly recommended. I did the little shaky hearts and dots with my Model’s Own Nail Art Pen. Then added a coat of Essie Matte About You. I’ll be honest; I only added the matte topcoat because I thought it was my regular topcoat. The bottles are identical. :)

Wet N Wild Under Your Spell

Hi :)

I wanted to do an Anti-Valentines day mani for all us single girls, who may or may not, get really bloody annoyed at seeing pink love hearts everywhere! Everywhere! :)

I thought this polish would be perfect. It’s a sheer black polish with lots of dark red, almost burgundy, shimmer. It gives full coverage after three coats, which is what I used. Even the name is perfect! :)

Wet n Wild Under Your Spell:

Then I used my No.2 Born Pretty Store brush, (that I reviewed here), to make a negative space heart. (For the empty heart shaped hole where love should live but it doesn’t! It’s empty!) (Bitter? Moi?)

444.2 Wet n Wild Under Your Spell

I was reluctant to try negative space manis because I can’t bear the thought of having naked nails, even partially naked! I added topcoat just to have some polish over the heart, I know it’s weird. I’m a nail NeverNude.

So I panicked and used the dotting tool on the bottom of the brush to put glitter inside the heart. (The way I put chocolate in my real heart, to fill the gap.) (Emotional eater? Moi?)

Wet n Wild Under Your Spell and Catrice The Huntsman:

At this stage the girly, sparkly side of me came flooding out when I filled the little heart with glitter and I put glitter on everything! (There’s a metaphor in there somewhere..)

So there’s my confused mani! It doesn’t know whether it’s a sparkly Valentine’s day mani or a dark, empty Anti-Valentine’s day mani.

Which look are you going to wear for the big day? :D

Sally Hansen Wild Life

Hi Everyone :)

I have another Anti-Valentines mani today and I’m going to show you how I did it too. When I posted the Revlon Tanzanite striping tape mani, the lovely Ting asked for a tutorial, so here it is!

I have to mention that I had no power or water yesterday, because of the terrible weather, so the quality of the pictures and the mani itself isn’t great. I decided to still post it because, it still shows how I achieved the look – but please forgive the bubbles and weird lighting :)

First step: I applied base coat. At the moment I’m using Essie Millionails. (It’s really good if you’re thinking about trying a new base coat, I have zero complaints).

Then I applied two coats of Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Wild Life. (Again, sorry for the bubbles.)

210.2 01

I then cut off 12 long pieces of striping tape and stuck them to the lid of my topcoat. (Catrice Quick Dry and High Shine Top Coat – a new favourite.) It’s easier to remove the tape if you use long pieces, and easier to handle when applying.

210.3 01

This next step is the key to getting the particular pattern I used in the Revlon Tanzanite mani. I used my tweezers to stick one piece of tape from the bottom corner of my nail, to the opposite top corner.

210.4 01

Then I added two more pieces, above and parallel to this piece of tape.

210.5 01

The next step is to stick a piece of tape to the other bottom corner of the nail and only bring it as far as the very first piece of tape.

210.6 01

Then add two more pieces, one either side.

210.7 01

This is the completed pattern. Now all you have to do is paint over it in black (Essie Licorice) and remove the pieces of tape immediately using a tweezers.

Tips: If you slowly pull the tape from one side to the other, you’ll get a cleaner line. Use a thin coat of polish and again, remove immediately. (I didn’t remove immediately because I was taking pictures and that’s why the lines are a bit crooked)

210.8 01

I repeated this on my pinkie and this is how it looks so far.

210.9 01

I wanted to cover the pink nails because they bubbled so I decided to make it an Anti-Valentines mani and add a black striped heart and a black glitter heart.

210.15 01

Finally, I want to show you this polish I got in Dealz (the Irish version of Poundland) – it’s called Pretty Metallic Nail Polish and I love it! It does smell awful though.

What do you think?
