Maybelline (Crystallize) Green Depth and Born Pretty Store Shell Paper

Hi! :D

Maybelline Green Depth is one of the Crystallize nail polishes, which is a collection of liquid sand polishes.

It’s a black polish with green/purple duochrome glass fleck and it is utterly gorgeous.

If you squint at the bottle, you can see the glass fleck is green in the middle and purple towards the edge. I love this polish!

However, it’s at this point that I messed the whole thing up!

Now, my original idea was to use this gorgeous Born Pretty Store shell paper over the polish to get irregularly shaped green flashes over a subtle green shimmer background. But this didn’t happen. “Why?”.

My first mistake was trying to stick the smooth plastic shell paper over liquid sand, because of the gritty finish of the polish, the paper couldn’t adhere.

Then I thought I could fix the whole thing by smothering it with topcoat but because the shell paper wasn’t stuck properly, it kept lifting, and the liquid sand polish kept soaking up all the topcoat, so I ended up with a lumpy finish. (Not a good look).

However, I still loved how the shell paper looked! I just made a mistake pairing it with a liquid sand polish. I’m definitely going to try it again and use it with a regular polish. :)

Have any of you succeeded in creating this type of nail look? Any tips for me? :)

Barry M Prickly Pear, Essence Cinderella The Glass Slipper and Bornprettystore.com pastel studs

Hi :)

One of the free samples Bornprettystore sent me was this fab little pot of different size studs. The colours are so pretty, they’re a mix of neon and pastel. I thought when I saw them on the website that they were all neon, but when I got them and saw that half of them were pastel, I knew I had to do a look for the #NAILLINKUP. (Click the image to go to CraftyNail’s website where you can find out more :)

Naillinkup-april-2015

I used Barry M Prickly Pear, one of the Gelly polishes, and the new Essence Cinderella glitter topper called The Glass Slipper.

The Essence is jam packed with pink/purple glassfleck and silver glitter and it’s soo freakin pretty. In the bottle the polish looks green too but that doesn’t show up on the nail.

Then I added a few of the pastel pink studs at the cuticle. I love adding one stud to the top of the nail, it’s so simple but completely changes the entire look.

Sinful Colors Kissy

Hi :)

I kept on theme after St Patrick’s Day and wore another green. I found this fabulous green polish, with green and gold glassfleck, in Dealz/Poundland!

I actually found a pile of Sinful Colors, if I’m honest, the chap at the till looked really confused. Do any of you get weird looks when you buy a lot of nail polishes? (Do any of you buy nail polish in bulk? I can’t be alone here!)

This is two coats, the finish was gorgeous!

OPI I Think in Pink, Sinful Colors Snow Me White and Essence Pixie Dust

Hi :)

I was pressed for time to do my nails this week but wanted to use Essence Pixie Dust in some way and ended up with this quick and easy funky french.

I used two coats of I Think in Pink, added white tips with a sponge and put Pixie Dust just over the white tips. I wanted to be able to see the glassfleck in Pixie Dust but didn’t want to hide the squishy finish of I Think in Pink. That’s it. Quick and easy.

Let me know what you think :)

(Oh! and I’m still wearing the free sample Jamberry Nails Black and White Stripe nail wrap on my pinkie. I’m wearing it for a week so see how it holds up. So far, I’m really impressed!)

IsaDora Bronze Patina

Hi :)

IsaDora Bronze Patina is a dark brown polish with tiny gold glassflecks that give it a lovely gold glint. I was very surprised that I liked this polish as much as I did. I usually don’t like brown polishes and it looked a bit dull in the bottle, but the lovely shimmer of the gold against the dark brown drew me in.

I liked the gold in the polish so much that I wanted more, so I added some gold leaf. I didn’t plan to apply it so randomly, but handling gold leaf is like trying to grasp smoke. I liked the random placement afterwards because the gold leaf was very reflective and the light would catch each finger at a different time, making typing more fun that usual. :) (If looking at your nail polish is fun, which it is!)

P.s. sorry for the mess around the cuticles, I switched back to Seche Vite topcoat and sometimes it will shrink the polish like this :/

NYC Fashion Queen (Crystal Couture)

Hi :)

The NYC Crystal Couture Collection. *Sigh* It’s sooo pretty! I already posted Princess here and I thought that purple jelly with glitter was gorgeous but all polishes now pale in comparison to this gold creation.

This is not just a gold polish, not just a gold polish with gold glitter, but a gold polish with gold glitter and gold glassflecks.

So It’s not just metallic, not just sparkly but it has a foil finish! It’s shiny, sparkly and foily! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I love it so much! I want to paint my entire house with it and live like Kind Midas!

OPI Sprung

Hi everyone :)

This little beauty almost got away, but I threw a bag over it’s head and dragged it home! Muhahaha!

I went to TK Maxx to hunt for nail polish and just as I went to pick it up, another girl got to it first! She carried it around the shop for ages and I kept seeing her looking at it and putting it down and picking it back up, and finally she went back to the nail polish shelf and left it down and I saw it!

It looked so small and alone and rejected! So I nabbed it!

It was all worth it because she’s a beauty!

Sprung is a bronze nail polish with lots of gold glassfleck that makes it look like it’s on fire, especially in the sun. I was so happy that the other girl decided she didn’t want it. :)

This is two coats and the usual Essie Good To Go topcoat. The formula was a breeze.

Maybelline Ocean Blue and Orly Sparkle Soaked

Hi everyone! :)

Today’s mani is blue, blue and some more blue! I used Maybelline’s gorgeous glassfleck, called Ocean Blue, as the base and, as always, I wanted more bling; so I added some Orly Sparkle Soaked glitter to my ring finger and thumb.

The formulas of both polishes were perfect. No problems.

I used two coats of the Maybelline and I dabbed on some of the Orly, trying to achieve a lazy gradient effect, and it still applied perfectly. This mani was really simple to do but I loved the result. (If I do say so myself!)

Both polishes have a realllllyyy subtle, realllly tiny pink/purple glassfleck effect and it’s pretty up close. If you look realllllyy closely at my ring finger you can see it :)

I used Essie Good To Go topcoat! :)

I’d love to hear if you guys have any polishing shortcuts? (Like dabbing the glitter on towards the end of the nail with the brush to make it look like a gradient instead of using a sponge.)

Rimmel Baby Bellini and Orly Can’t Be Tamed

Hi Everyone :)

Today I’m wearing Rimmel Baby Bellini, one of the Cocktail Colours collection and Orly Can’t Be Tamed, which has purple medium glitter and gunmetal smaller glitter in a clear base.

The Rimmel is a very pretty purple with a glassfleck finish, so it shimmers and catches the light. This finish makes it just different enough from a regular purple creme  that it warrents a look but it’s still fairly subtle. I wanted to add more sparkle. ALWAYS more! :) So I added the Orly, in real life the two are a similar colour and went together well, but did not photograph accurately.

Here’s the Rimmel on it’s own:

Here’s the Orly over the Rimmel.

The lovely bottles :)

Do you like adding glitter over the same colour base or do you think they should clash? I’m loving adding glitter over a polish when they are the same colour at the minute :)
