Barry M Rockstar

Hi :)

Today I have the most gorgeous grey nail polish ever! It’s called Barry M Rockstar and it’s a grey metallic polish with, not just holographic glitter, but iridescent glitter! So many colours! So much fun! It had a great finish in every single type of light! I wiggled my fingers all over the County with this one :)

The formula was a bit thick but when I opened my new bottle at home, I realized someone had already opened it in the shop, and gunked the whole neck. (Don’t do that!) (Do not gunk the bottle!) (Now it’s my gunky bottle and it’s your fault!). So it may have been because it was opened and not because of the formula, but I’m telling you anyway!

It was, of course, terribly, horribly, snow leopard sighting-ly difficult to capture all the types and colours of glitter but I finally joined Instagram and made a lil video to show off all the sparkles so you can watch that below!

Or just look at this pic :)

No7 Moon Shimmer

Hi :)

I was pleasantly surprised by this polish, it’s more complex than it first seems. I don’t even know where to begin. I spent ages staring at it in different light and peering at it up close. It was so enjoyable! I haven’t been surprised by a polish in a long time and if you like subtle polishes then you’ll love this one.

It’s a very pale grey colour with the slightest tinge of lavender. It’s so slight that I’m not even sure it’s there or if my eyes are playing tricks on me. It has flakies and glassflecks so from a distance it looks like a pale grey metallic polish.

The flakies are translucent gold so they are invisible until the light hits them, and even then they are still quite subtle because they are so thin, the gold colour is weak. It has lots of small glassflecks that are blue – this was my favourite part of the polish – and soo pretty against the pale grey.

All of this is only really apparent up close. It’s a polish to be studied and enjoyed for it’s subtleties. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope you do too. :)

Have you tried any of the No7 polishes? Are there any other colours I should try?

Model’s Own Gun Grey and L.A. Colors Tinsel

Hi :)

In my Christmas stocking this year I found the cutest little gift set. Model’s Own and Impulse released limited edition sets, each containing Model’s Own nail buffer, nail polish and an Impulse spray.

Now of course I love any nail polish and I needed a new buffer (score!) but I was really happy to get an Impulse spray too! Impulse are like chocolates, (try not to read that in a Forest Gump voice, I dare you!), because, (no, not because “you never know what you’re gonna git”), because there are no bad Impulse sprays.

I got the set that included the Very Pink (Roses and Grapefruit) spray and the Gun Grey polish. Of course, the spray smells lovely and you can see the polish below. However, the polish smelled terrible, in ironic contrast to the lovely spray.

It’s a black polish with multi-coloured shimmer, mostly green and purple, but you can’t make out the colours unless you hold your nails under your nose. The shimmer makes the polish look more like a dark grey and slightly metallic, hence the name!

I really liked the polish on it’s own and had no plans to do anything to it but then I dented one nail making a cup of tea, (with chocolate biscuits, mostly I wanted the biscuits), so then I added a coat of L.A. Colors Tinsel. A very sheer peach polish with glitter.

I liked the result – it kinda looks like the sky at night, or reallly simplified Galaxy nails, do you think?

NYC Velvet Chic

Hi :)

NYC Velvet Chic is a lovely light grey creme polish. I felt very chic and understated wearing this colour, so of course I had to put a stop to that in a hurry! :D

I took some neon polish, (American Apparel Neon Red), and my Model’s Own Nail Art Pen and tried to recreate this Wah Nails Tribal mani. I only did one nail because I didn’t want to ruin the whole thing altogether!

It wasn’t a complete disaster but the dots at the top of my nail are supposed to be tiny thin lines…sooo… practice make perfect? :)

OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous

Hi everyone :)

I cannot explain to you how much I wanted this nail polish, and for how long, before I finally shelled out FULL PRICE for it. I tried every discount shop and nail polish sale with no luck and I couldn’t wait any longer.

Of course once I bought it I had to wait a bit longer to wear it, with a polish as beautiful as this, you need a special occasion. A reason to pull out the weighty bottle, beautifully emblazoned with the letters, O,P and I.

And after all this, did I remember to take a million pictures in the best light with my camera? I did not! I took this one terrible picture with my phone and then completely forgot all about it! Ack.

Here it is, my one measly picture of the most longed for nail polish ever!

Rimmel Baby Bellini and Orly Can’t Be Tamed

Hi Everyone :)

Today I’m wearing Rimmel Baby Bellini, one of the Cocktail Colours collection and Orly Can’t Be Tamed, which has purple medium glitter and gunmetal smaller glitter in a clear base.

The Rimmel is a very pretty purple with a glassfleck finish, so it shimmers and catches the light. This finish makes it just different enough from a regular purple creme ¬†that it warrents a look but it’s still fairly subtle. I wanted to add more sparkle. ALWAYS more! :) So I added the Orly, in real life the two are a similar colour and went together well, but did not photograph accurately.

Here’s the Rimmel on it’s own:

Here’s the Orly over the Rimmel.

The lovely bottles :)

Do you like adding glitter over the same colour base or do you think they should clash? I’m loving adding glitter over a polish when they are the same colour at the minute :)

Essence Here’s My Number

Hi Everyone :)

I’m wearing Essence Here’s My Number today, this is a Sparkle Sand effect polish a.k.a. a texture polish. This was another polish I put off wearing because I thought I wouldn’t like it on but I loved it!

It’s a gunmetal grey base with lots of fine silver glitter and holographic glitter. It wasn’t as gritty or matte as some texture polishes but the contrast between the rainbow colors and sparkle of the glitter and the dark grey was lovely.

I love grey polishes so this is an automatic favourite for me and the holo glitter put it right at the top of the list. Don’t judge this one by the bottle. It’s fab on :)

I found it hard to capture the holo glitter in this pic but I added one of the bottle which shows it a little. It’s alot nicer in real life. This is two coats and no topcoat.

Collection 2000 Angel Wings and Maybelline Alley Attitude

Hi Everyone!

Today I’m wearing Collection 2000 Angel Wings which is actually a grey creme polish but it has a little hint of blue. When I added the black and blue glitter, it brought out the blue and so it looks almost like a baby blue but alone it’s grey. I swear! It was actually a lovely calm colour alone – I should have taken a pic! Oops!

I was also second guessing my rounded nail shape, (my roundies as I call them:), and decided to go back to square. The short rounded nails are something I’ve tried a couple of times but it never lasts more than a week. I really liked how they looked this time but went back to what I’m used to. I can’t decide! What so you guys think? Round or square?? Help me decide!

200 Collection 2000 Angel Wings and Maybelline Alley Attitude 1

Oh! I nearly forgot to mention that the glitter is matte! I added a thin coat of NYC Grand Central Station but the larger black glitter still looks matte. ¬†(See middle finger). I wasn’t really feeling the glitter, I think I need to try it over another colour or with more topcoat. What do you guys think? Do you like this type of glitter?

Nails – Square or round?

Glitter – Yay or nay?
