Maybelline Purple Dazzle

Hi :)

Maybelline Purple Dazzle is a purple jelly polish with pastel pink, purple and blue glitter and tiny pink and green glitter. It’s so colourful! It’s looks like you put the worlds prettiest sprinkles inside a bowl of jelly. So sparkly and squishy! :D

I posted the blue version of this last week, Skyline Blue, I love them both. (Ok I love the purple one a bit more, OK a lot more! But shhhhh! Don’t let the blue one know, it’ll hurt his feelings.)

I loooove jelly polishes with glitter! Actually I’ve posted a bunch of them, like this one, or this one, or this one, or this one or this one and I love them all! (Not equally though…shhhh!)

Ciate Candy Cane

Hi :)

I got one of those Ciate Tree Trinkets for Christmas. It’s a lovely little gift. It’s a clear plastic bauble that you can hang on the Christmas tree and it has a mini nail polish inside. It’s made for polish lovers right?

Except that Ciate apparently stole a nail polish blogger’s original idea. Then sold it as their own and sent legal paperwork to the bloggers who created or used the nail idea which ordered them to stop posting said nail idea, because it now belonged to Ciate. You can read more about it here, here and here, if you’re interested in the details. :/

There was a widespread boycott of all Ciate products because of this. I have enjoyed a few free mini polishes that were given away with magazines but I never purchased one because they really went too far.

This all happened long before I was a blogger, and although I have very few original ideas, (damn you Pinterest!), if I did have one then I would be reeeeallly upset to have a huge nail polish company take it and order me to stop doing it! and then make a huge profit off my idea!

So I love my gift and the polish is really pretty but I just can’t purchase any Ciate products. They just went. too. far.

Maybelline Skyline Blue

Hi :)

Maybelline Skyline Blue is really gorgeous in person, but quite hard to photograph, the colour is so vibrant and the glitter so reflective; but that doesn’t translate to the pictures.

It’s a blue jelly polish with lots of blue, silver and tiny pink glitter.

It looks like a clear blue sea with sparkling gems at the bottom. I really enjoyed wearing it, it sparkled something fierce in the sun :)

This is two coats of Skyline Blue and two coats of NYC Grand Central Station topcoat.

NYC Ruby Queen (Crystal Couture)

Hi :)

I loved yesterday’s checker water decals so much I didn’t take them off! I’ve never kept polish on one nail and changed the others but it’s such a cute design, I couldn’t dissolve it! I’ll never be able to recreate those little squares so perfectly ever again. I’m hoarding the rest of the packet like the ring of Mordor. :)

The red polish is NYC Ruby Queen. I’ve gushed over my love of the Crystal Couture collection here and here and I’m going to gush again! I LOVE this collection! It’s a set of jelly polishes packed with glitter and they are so bright and sparkly and squishy! I looove them so hard! You must try them, you won’t be disappointed.

This one is red and pink glitter in a jelly base, the glitter glowed within the jelly. Then I wanted to make it more Valentine-y so I added the word “Love”, shakily. See why I can’t ever recreate the little squares? :) But then the single bitter side of me poked it’s little head out and I added “Hate” to my pinkie and then I just drew squiggles for funsies. :)

Are you going to try any Valentine’s nail art? :)

Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond

Hi :)

As I mentioned herebornprettystore.com sent me a few free samples, and one of the free samples was a little packet of checker water decals. I love water decals, they are the greatest nail hack ever! They’re like super thin stickers that no one can tell are stickers. Instant nail art! (A much, much cheaper alternative to nail wraps and easier to use.)

They have a decal for every single kind of nail art effect, galaxy, water marble, even cats! :D Look! So if you want to try any of these looks without opening a bottle of nail polish or spending more than a single euro, then I’d check out the website! :)

To get the look below, I painted three coats of Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond, a beautiful bright red jelly, (it’s bright and squishy and I love it!), and NYC Sugar Heel on my ring finger. I then used striping tape to make little white triangle moons and cut the decals the same shape as the moons.

I dipped the decals in water for a second and then they came away from the cardboard backing really easily and just used my fingers to place them on my nail. The decal is super thin but not sticky so it’s really easy to handle and place.

PLUS this little packet cost 0.87cent, they have free worldwide shipping, and if you use this discount code, AZHQ10, then you get 10% off which makes them 0.78cent! TOTAL! Even I can afford that! (I’ve already ordered another packet in a houndstooth design! :D Yay for cheap supplies! *Dance*

P.s. When I was looking through the site, I came across this little plastic mouse that I thought was so ridiculous that I laughed out loud, but then I realised that it’s the perfect thing to use when your nails are wet! I didn’t buy it but I went from laughing to thinking it was genius! What do you think? :D

Hard Candy Jubilee

Hi :)

Jubilee is a green jelly nail polish with tiny and large black glitter, silver hex and orange bar glitter. The formula was a bit thick, the bar glitter stuck out everywhere and the colour was patchy, but it’s the perfect look for a Halloween mani!

The colour reminded me of when they slime someone at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. Anyone else used to love that? :)

I added drippy’s using my Model’s Own Nail Art Pen for Halloween in January! :)

Hard Candy Glitter Jam

Hi :)

Hard Candy Glitter Jam is a glitter jam! The name is perfect because, it’s pink glitter in a pink jelly base, so it’s a jelly sandwich in a bottle! No need to layer a jelly polish and a glitter. It’s already done for you. :)

It also has blue and a little silver glitter, which makes it more colourful and interesting. The jelly base meant that it was squishy looking and the glitter made it sparkly. It was squishy and sparkly!  Hurray! They are my two favourite kinds of polishes! In one bottle!

I loved this polish! It was a finger wiggler for sure. It had full coverage after two coats. THIS IS ONLY TWO COATS PEOPLE! :D

I also tried NYC Strip Me Off basecoat for the first time here, but I used it over my usual basecoat instead of my bare nail so I didn’t peel it off, like you’re supposed to, but removed it the usual way with nail polish remover and cotton wool.

I was really surprised at the result, as soon as the nail polish remover soaked down to the peel off basecoat the whole pile of polish came away really easily. This little discovery was a happy accident! I’m now using NYC Strip Me Off over my usual basecoat for every mani and polish removal has never been so quick and easy!

So if you want to keep using your usual treatment basecoat and have easy glitter, (or any kind of polish), removal then I’d recommend trying this and if you do, let me know how you like it. :)

NYC Fashion Queen (Crystal Couture) and Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond

Hi :)

NYC Fashion Queen was so deliciously sparkly and metallic that I couldn’t take it off, or stop staring at my nails, so instead I added a coat of a fab bright red jelly polish called Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond.

The jelly finish of the red polish meant that you could still see the sparkle and metallic finish under the red, so I got the best of both worlds, squishy and shiny! :D

A jelly sandwich is when you put on a coat of jelly nail polish, then a glitter, then another coat of jelly polish, i.e. you sandwich the glitter between two coats of jelly. (Anyone else getting hungry?)

This was just a coat of jelly polish over another polish so it’s more like….jelly on toast? Anyway I liked how it turned out. :)

I used striping tape to make the V shapes and Seche Vite to seal it all in. I hope you like it :)

NYC NY Princess (Crystal Couture)

Hi :D

I tried a new technique today. I’m feeling adventurous and brave. I defy the nail art Gods! I will master the dark arts of the nail art brush, sponge and striping tape!

It’s called a Syrup mani and here’s how you do it:

You take a jelly (sheer) finish nail polish and you paint one coat as usual on the whole nail, but on the second coat you start about a third of the way down the nail. Then on the third coat you just paint the bottom third of the nail, so you get a kind of gradient effect but with just one colour. It’s supposed to look like syrup dripping off the nails I think?

Anyway that’s what I tried today, I used NYC NY Princess which is a fab dark purple jelly with purple glitter. (Glitter makes everything better!)

What do you think?

Make Up Gallery Scarlett Sparkle

Hi :)

Today I have another cheap and cheerful nail polish to show you. Emphasis on cheap.

Make Up Gallery is Dealz’s make up line. (Dealz is the Irish version of Poundland). Yes, the poundshop came out with it’s own cosmetics line. Who knew?

I gave up on poundshop nail polish after I tried some Pretty nail polishes, and although they were lovely looking and the formula was ok, I could not stand the smell. Exhibit A and Exhibit B.

However, this one had tiny holographic glitter, so how could I resist? (I could not). (No one can). (It’s tiny and holographic!).

It turns out that Make Up Gallery is better than Pretty. The smell was noticeable but not overwhelming and the formula was fine, slightly thick but manageable. To cut to the chase, I would buy Make Up Gallery polishes again.

Here’s why:

Make Up Gallery Scarlett Sparkle:

421.1 Make Up Gallery Scarlett Sparkle

Scarlett Sparkle is a raspberry jelly with tiny holographic glitter. The squishy finish and delicate, colourful sparkle makes this an absolute winner. Well done Dealz!

This is three coats of Scarlett Sparkle and a coat of Seche Vite and then another coat of Essie Good To Go.

Paw of the Day! (See how squishy the nail polish looks? Mmmmmm).

421.2 Make Up Gallery Scarlett Sparkle

The bottle that I couldn’t resist, (the polish looks more red than pink in the bottle and darker):
