Essence On Air! and Rimmel Midnight Mistletoe (Glitter Bomb)

Hi :)

On Air! is one of the new gel polishes from Essence. I’ve tried a few of the new gel polishes and they are fantastic! They are so smooth and shiny. They look like they have a great squishy layer of topcoat built in!

There’s also a new base and topcoat, I haven’t tried them but I will! I have to now because I can’t believe the difference in the gel polishes, I really love the formula so much! I wore polish without a topcoat for the first time in my life, that’s how great they look.

I also found another Rimmel Glitter Bomb, called Midnight Mistletoe; which is a red, green and holographic polish. The Glitter Bomb’s are really pretty and I put the two together and ended up with Christmas mani in May :)

NYC Fashion Queen (Crystal Couture) and Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond

Hi :)

NYC Fashion Queen was so deliciously sparkly and metallic that I couldn’t take it off, or stop staring at my nails, so instead I added a coat of a fab bright red jelly polish called Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond.

The jelly finish of the red polish meant that you could still see the sparkle and metallic finish under the red, so I got the best of both worlds, squishy and shiny! :D

A jelly sandwich is when you put on a coat of jelly nail polish, then a glitter, then another coat of jelly polish, i.e. you sandwich the glitter between two coats of jelly. (Anyone else getting hungry?)

This was just a coat of jelly polish over another polish so it’s more like….jelly on toast? Anyway I liked how it turned out. :)

I used striping tape to make the V shapes and Seche Vite to seal it all in. I hope you like it :)

L.A. Colors Candy Sprinkles and Electrified

On today’s episode of, “When nail art goes bad”,…*dramatic music*…

I couldn’t leave well enough alone! I had to keep trying nail art. I thought I was soo cool! I couldn’t just stick to plain swatches, ohhh nooo! I had to try and be creattiivee. When will I learn? When. Will. I. Learn?

When Nails Inc came out with their sprinkles collection, I couldn’t afford them, (still can’t), and reallllly wanted them. So when cheaper versions became available, I bought them all! I have a bunch of this exact same sprinkles-type  polish and so I wanted to add something to it, I didn’t want to repeat a look I’ve already worn.

My idea was to pair it with a metallic pink. I thought the more pink the better and the metallic glitter will work with the metallic polish? I was wrrroong! The sprinkles was really nice on it’s own and I should have left it that way.

To add insult to injury, the metallic pink was gorgeous on it’s own too, I should have just worn both polishes separately and I would have had two lovely manis. *Sigh* Instead of this:

I didn’t ruin my right hand! :) Here’s Candy Sprinkles on it’s own:

So what did I learn from this? NOTHING! I’m doing monsterous nail art right now!

Tune in tomorrow for the next episode of, “When nail art goes bad!”……*dramatic music*

Sally Hansen Velveteen (Velvet Texture) and China Glaze Elfin’ Around

Hi :)

I loved yesterdays polish so much that I couldn’t take it off yet, so instead I went to Google for some inspiration to spice it up. That’s where I found a pic of the Nicole Miller Fall 2014 runway nails. I used China Glaze Elfin’ Around and a striping nail art brush to try and recreate the look and this is how it turned out.

Sally Hansen Velveteen and China Glaze Elfin’ Around:

It didn’t quite look the same and I wasn’t sure why, (other than the fact that these nails were copied by me in my pyjamas eating Nutella from the jar and the runway nails were created by a professional!), and then I read the description of the nails and it said Katie Jane Hughes used a matte top coat to create her look. So then I added Essie Matte About You over the whole thing. (Didn’t get Nutella on my keyboard.)

Then I declared to an empty room, with a chocolate covered spoon held to the sky: “Close Enough!” and went to bed. :)

Revlon Gold Coin and Barry M Starlight

Hi :)

Sparkles! I love sparkles! I’m a fully grown woman and I love sparkles and that is why this topcoat is absolute heaven for me.

This mani is two coats of Revlon Gold Coin, a really magnificent metallic gold that has replaced Orly Luxe as the best gold nail polish on record! It has a perfect formula; it’s streak free and applies like…well..liquid gold! It’s so utterly reflective that I want to paint it on everything! King Midas would paint his nails with this polish.

On top of that I applied one, ONE, one single coat of Barry M Starlight. It’s so jam packed full of glitter that I had to put some back into the bottle! Madness! It’s the most holographic, colourful, sparkliest, glitteriest nail polish EVER! I squeeled out loud when I put this on. (Again, I swear, I’m grown).

Starlight is a Christmas limited edition, Boots exclusive, nail polish and of all of the recommendations I’ve ever given, this is number one! If you see this GRAB IT! Grab it and run and don’t look back!*

OPI Sprung

Hi everyone :)

This little beauty almost got away, but I threw a bag over it’s head and dragged it home! Muhahaha!

I went to TK Maxx to hunt for nail polish and just as I went to pick it up, another girl got to it first! She carried it around the shop for ages and I kept seeing her looking at it and putting it down and picking it back up, and finally she went back to the nail polish shelf and left it down and I saw it!

It looked so small and alone and rejected! So I nabbed it!

It was all worth it because she’s a beauty!

Sprung is a bronze nail polish with lots of gold glassfleck that makes it look like it’s on fire, especially in the sun. I was so happy that the other girl decided she didn’t want it. :)

This is two coats and the usual Essie Good To Go topcoat. The formula was a breeze.

Orly Luxe

Hi everyone :)

I love it when magazines give away free nail polish! I love it so much! With Octobers issue of Cosmo, they gave away free mini Orly polishes and I chose Luxe, a huge lemming of mine for ages! It’s supposed to be the very best gold polish ever and I think it may be! Judge for yourself :)

I used two coats and my usual Essie Good To Go topcoat and the formula was perfect.

All Orly’s have great formulas and wear time.

OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous

Hi everyone :)

I cannot explain to you how much I wanted this nail polish, and for how long, before I finally shelled out FULL PRICE for it. I tried every discount shop and nail polish sale with no luck and I couldn’t wait any longer.

Of course once I bought it I had to wait a bit longer to wear it, with a polish as beautiful as this, you need a special occasion. A reason to pull out the weighty bottle, beautifully emblazoned with the letters, O,P and I.

And after all this, did I remember to take a million pictures in the best light with my camera? I did not! I took this one terrible picture with my phone and then completely forgot all about it! Ack.

Here it is, my one measly picture of the most longed for nail polish ever!

Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Like

Hi Everyone :)

Today I’m wearing a lovely cornflower blue nail polish from Deborah Lippmann called I Know What Boys Like. I’ve mentioned before that the colour and formula from Deborah Lippmann polishes are excellent, and this one was no different.

I liked the polish, but as always, I wanted to add something to make it more interesting. So I decided to try stamping again. The result turned out to be reallllly subtle, but in the end that was a good thing, because my stamping skills were way rusty and the patterns were all crooked.

I used Rimmel Hard Metal and Bundle Monster plate 212 to stamp over the Deborah Lippmann. This is how it turned out.
