L’Oreal Femme Fatale and BornPrettyStore nail decoration

Hi everyone! :)

You just can’t beat a good red nail polish. It cures all! (It cures some). (Ok, it doesn’t cure anything, but it can cheer you up a bit).

After applying topcoat, I glued on these Born Pretty Store decorations. I really like them. You get five in a pack and they’re curved to fit the nail, which means they don’t catch in anything. (I was afraid they would catch in everything!) I ended up wearing them for two days with no problems.

The L’Oreal had a great formula too, the more I try these polishes the more I like them.

Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby

Hi :)

Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby is a red creme polish. When I first picked it up I left it back on the shelf, because I thought to myself, “I have enough red cremes”, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I went back and luckily it was still there waiting for me. It’s just such a pretty shade of red. Not too bright, not too dark. Just perfect. (It’s the Goldilocks of red polishes).

When I went back I also spotted a big nail art wheel full of silver and gold studs of all shapes and sizes. I had to get that! It was 1.49euro in Dealz. I do love a bargain! It also had round black studs so I put them over Ruby Ruby for some Poundshop chic :)

NYC Ruby Queen (Crystal Couture)

Hi :)

I loved yesterday’s checker water decals so much I didn’t take them off! I’ve never kept polish on one nail and changed the others but it’s such a cute design, I couldn’t dissolve it! I’ll never be able to recreate those little squares so perfectly ever again. I’m hoarding the rest of the packet like the ring of Mordor. :)

The red polish is NYC Ruby Queen. I’ve gushed over my love of the Crystal Couture collection here and here and I’m going to gush again! I LOVE this collection! It’s a set of jelly polishes packed with glitter and they are so bright and sparkly and squishy! I looove them so hard! You must try them, you won’t be disappointed.

This one is red and pink glitter in a jelly base, the glitter glowed within the jelly. Then I wanted to make it more Valentine-y so I added the word “Love”, shakily. See why I can’t ever recreate the little squares? :) But then the single bitter side of me poked it’s little head out and I added “Hate” to my pinkie and then I just drew squiggles for funsies. :)

Are you going to try any Valentine’s nail art? :)

Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond

Hi :)

As I mentioned herebornprettystore.com sent me a few free samples, and one of the free samples was a little packet of checker water decals. I love water decals, they are the greatest nail hack ever! They’re like super thin stickers that no one can tell are stickers. Instant nail art! (A much, much cheaper alternative to nail wraps and easier to use.)

They have a decal for every single kind of nail art effect, galaxy, water marble, even cats! :D Look! So if you want to try any of these looks without opening a bottle of nail polish or spending more than a single euro, then I’d check out the website! :)

To get the look below, I painted three coats of Wet n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond, a beautiful bright red jelly, (it’s bright and squishy and I love it!), and NYC Sugar Heel on my ring finger. I then used striping tape to make little white triangle moons and cut the decals the same shape as the moons.

I dipped the decals in water for a second and then they came away from the cardboard backing really easily and just used my fingers to place them on my nail. The decal is super thin but not sticky so it’s really easy to handle and place.

PLUS this little packet cost 0.87cent, they have free worldwide shipping, and if you use this discount code, AZHQ10, then you get 10% off which makes them 0.78cent! TOTAL! Even I can afford that! (I’ve already ordered another packet in a houndstooth design! :D Yay for cheap supplies! *Dance*

P.s. When I was looking through the site, I came across this little plastic mouse that I thought was so ridiculous that I laughed out loud, but then I realised that it’s the perfect thing to use when your nails are wet! I didn’t buy it but I went from laughing to thinking it was genius! What do you think? :D

Wet N Wild Under Your Spell

Hi :)

I wanted to do an Anti-Valentines day mani for all us single girls, who may or may not, get really bloody annoyed at seeing pink love hearts everywhere! Everywhere! :)

I thought this polish would be perfect. It’s a sheer black polish with lots of dark red, almost burgundy, shimmer. It gives full coverage after three coats, which is what I used. Even the name is perfect! :)

Wet n Wild Under Your Spell:

444.1 Wet n Wild Under Your Spell

Then I used my No.2 Born Pretty Store brush, (that I reviewed here), to make a negative space heart. (For the empty heart shaped hole where love should live but it doesn’t! It’s empty!) (Bitter? Moi?)

444.2 Wet n Wild Under Your Spell

I was reluctant to try negative space manis because I can’t bear the thought of having naked nails, even partially naked! I added topcoat just to have some polish over the heart, I know it’s weird. I’m a nail NeverNude.

So I panicked and used the dotting tool on the bottom of the brush to put glitter inside the heart. (The way I put chocolate in my real heart, to fill the gap.) (Emotional eater? Moi?)

Wet n Wild Under Your Spell and Catrice The Huntsman:

444.3 Wet n Wild Under Your Spell and Catrice The Hunstman

At this stage the girly, sparkly side of me came flooding out when I filled the little heart with glitter and I put glitter on everything! (There’s a metaphor in there somewhere..)

444.4 Wet n Wild Under Your Spell and Catrice The Hunstman

So there’s my confused mani! It doesn’t know whether it’s a sparkly Valentine’s day mani or a dark, empty Anti-Valentine’s day mani.

#Conflicted #NeverNude

Which look are you going to wear for the big day? :D

Revlon Ruby Ribbon (Matte Suede)

Hi :)

Revlon Ruby Ribbon is a deep raspberry colour matte finish nail polish with delicate white shimmer. I used three coats to make it a bit darker but it only barely needed two coats – which would have given a lighter more raspberry colour than pictured here.

It was gorgeous, and although I love matte/textured polishes on their own and rarely topcoat them, I wanted to do something to this polish just because I’m trying to experiment with nail art. So I added topcoat to the tips.

However, the shiny tips didn’t stand out or look good! So then I topcoated the whole thing and tried to distract from the fact that I made a pretty polish less so by adding triangle studs and some striping tape.

Judge the results for yourself! :)

Revlon Ruby Ribbon (Matte Suede):

Topcoat on the tips:

435.2 Revlon Ruby Ribbon (Matte Suede)

Topcoat on everything! Triangle studs and gold striping tape:

I should have just left this one alone! I loved it matte to begin with!

Do you prefer matte or shiny nail polish?

NYC Fashion Queen (Crystal Couture) and Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond

Hi :)

NYC Fashion Queen was so deliciously sparkly and metallic that I couldn’t take it off, or stop staring at my nails, so instead I added a coat of a fab bright red jelly polish called Wet n Wild Everyone Loves Redmond.

The jelly finish of the red polish meant that you could still see the sparkle and metallic finish under the red, so I got the best of both worlds, squishy and shiny! :D

A jelly sandwich is when you put on a coat of jelly nail polish, then a glitter, then another coat of jelly polish, i.e. you sandwich the glitter between two coats of jelly. (Anyone else getting hungry?)

This was just a coat of jelly polish over another polish so it’s more like….jelly on toast? Anyway I liked how it turned out. :)

I used striping tape to make the V shapes and Seche Vite to seal it all in. I hope you like it :)

Sally Hansen Velveteen (Velvet Texture) and China Glaze Elfin’ Around

Hi :)

I loved yesterdays polish so much that I couldn’t take it off yet, so instead I went to Google for some inspiration to spice it up. That’s where I found a pic of the Nicole Miller Fall 2014 runway nails. I used China Glaze Elfin’ Around and a striping nail art brush to try and recreate the look and this is how it turned out.

Sally Hansen Velveteen and China Glaze Elfin’ Around:

424.3 Sally Hansen Velveteen and China Glaze Elfin' Around

It didn’t quite look the same and I wasn’t sure why, (other than the fact that these nails were copied by me in my pyjamas eating Nutella from the jar and the runway nails were created by a professional!), and then I read the description of the nails and it said Katie Jane Hughes used a matte top coat to create her look. So then I added Essie Matte About You over the whole thing. (Didn’t get Nutella on my keyboard.)

Sally Hansen Velveteen, China Glaze Elfin’ Around and Essie Matte About You:

424.4 Sally Hansen Velveteen China Glaze Elfin' Around and Essie Matte About You

Then I declared to an empty room, with a chocolate covered spoon held to the sky: “Close Enough!” and went to bed. :)

L.A. Colors Animated and Broken Hearted

Hi everyone :)

L.A. Colors Animated is a lovely bright red nail polish with a little bit of shimmer. I liked it on, but of course I had to add something more!

Broken Hearted is a red jelly with lots of lovely flakies. I think they look nice together and flakies are always a hit with me.

L.A. Colors is an American brand that I’m seeing more and more of over here and, like Sinful Colors and Wet n Wild, they are very cheap and quality polishes. The range of colours and finishes for such a small price tag is unbelievable!

Leighton Denny Best Seller

Hi guys! :)

I have another freebie to show you today, even though it’s from last July! Harper’s Bazaar were giving away free Leighton Denny nail polishes with their July issue and I picked up this colour. It showed promise in the bottle but on the nail it was blah and the shimmer died.

It wasn’t light or dark enough to be anything other than a run of the mill red and the shimmer that would have made it special drowned in the formula. The formula was bad too, not the worst (Model’s Own) but it was a bit thick and took forever to dry.

I have a few other Leighton Denny polishes (all freebies) and they all have bad formulas and take forever to dry, especially the quick dry topcoat!

I was going to order Leighton Denny many times from QVC because he is a great salesman and I like him personally but I’m really glad I didn’t because the quality just isn’t up to scratch, especially given the price tag! Sorry Leighton. This was a big disappointment.
